The Fiji TimesFEO lodges criticism in opposition to FICAC Commissioner and extra criticism in opposition to Saneem and Sayed-Khaiyum with Police


The Fijian Elections Workplace (FEO) not has confidence within the Fiji Unbiased Fee Towards Corruption (FICAC) Commissioner, Rashmi Aslam in finishing up his duties and making choices impartially.

A criticism has been lodged to the President by the FEO in opposition to Mr Aslam, for failing to declare a battle of curiosity he could have with Mohammed Saneem.

A press release by FEO says it’s apparent from this battle of curiosity that FEO’s criticism in opposition to Mr Saneem could possibly be compromised and that is evident when evaluating the timeframe of investigations of complaints lodged by Mr Saneem in opposition to political events and its candidates within the earlier years to the complaints lodged in opposition to Mr Saneem.

An extra criticism has been lodged by FEO in opposition to Mr Saneem and the previous Lawyer Basic, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, with the Fiji Police Pressure on allegations of bribery, receiving a corrupting profit and abuse of workplace.

These relate to Mr Saneem’s remuneration being reviewed and accredited after one and a half years had lapsed in his new contract.

The amendments to his contract included:

  • Wage increment which included again relationship it to previous one and a half years.
  • Authorities agreeing to pay his tax due on the again pay.
  • Fee of election readiness and publish election bonus.
  • Saneem’s household relocation abroad and prices related to journey and lodging paid by the FEO for 3 months previous to elections.

These advantages given to Mr Saneem via remunerations and allowances have been paid out to him throughout the marketing campaign interval of the 2022 Basic Election.

The FEO has referred this matter to the Fiji Police Pressure for his or her additional investigations.
